Kateryna Sergieieva

About

Kateryna Sergieieva graduated with honors from the National Mining University in 2007 with a Master’s degree in Computer Ecological and Economic Monitoring. In 2014, she earned her PhD in Information Technologies after defending her thesis on the use of satellite imagery for analyzing the thermal state of slagheaps. In 2018, she was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor in the Department of GeoInformation Systems. She has been working at the university since 2007, first as an assistant and later, since 2015, as an associate professor in the Department of Information Technology and Computer Engineering (former Geoinformation Systems Department). Her research interests include satellite-based Earth observation technologies, monitoring of sustainable development indicators, spatial data analysis and data mining methods. She teaches a wide range of courses including Remote Sensing, National Geospatial Data Infrastructure, Algorithms and Data Structures, IT Business Process Management, Modeling of Environmental, Economic and Social Processes, Data Mining, Image Processing and Pattern Recognition, and Geostatistics.
